PRAYER TO LOVE

I look in the mirror and see the beauty that has always possessed me.  My mind swirls with the energy that I am experiencing in the center of a vortex of love.  My body trembles for the desperado that I am.  My heart pounds with excitement and nothing more exists, as he creeps into my mind, gently caressing, touching, and holding me.  He speaks, my soul awakens.  It is he I want and no OTHER.  As he walks in through the door, my stomach tightens and my eyes fill with tears.  My body is electrified with his love and I breathe deeply.  I have heard that death is patient for love as sweet as ours.  I speak softly so I do not summon what I fear most.  Sweet Love, open my mouth to speak only truth to the one who makes me shiver.  Guide me with my words so that I may tell him I’ve fallen in love.  Will he believe the truth of my heart that speaks of soaring higher into the realms of madness while my mind warns me of sudden death?  Love speaks to me of risk.  I am told that the heart that risks is truly free.  He reaches out for me.  My mouth opens and the unspeakable flows.

THE POET'S BIRTHDAY

 The wizard slays dragons
with words and tears,

Revealing the wisdom
of
so many years.

 Our passages are seasoned
with unique suits to wear,

This one bears beauty and gray strands of hair.

Passages are feared by most nearly all,
Old age we are told, means you're taking a fall.

Our suits we wear grudgingly but what we don't know,

Suits are gifts from purity of the soul.
